Two charged with attempted murder

Two people have appeared in court accused of trying to kill another man in Greater Manchester.

Simon McDonnell and Leanne Stewart - both 24 - are charged with the attempted murder of a 33-year-old man in Great Lever, Bolton.

The injured man was discovered with serious head injuries at a house in Duncombe Road on Thursday morning.

He was in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Royal Preston Hospital on Saturday.

Mr McDonnell and Ms Stewart - who both live in Duncombe Road - were remanded in custody by the town's magistrates on Saturday morning.

They are due to appear at Bolton Crown Court on 22 May.
