Car thief confronts couple
Second break-in in the Dunmurry area in the past week
Second break-in in the Dunmurry area in the past week

A burglar confronted a couple in their bedroom before stealing their car on the outskirts of Belfast.

He woke them up at about 0415 BST on Saturday and demanded the keys of their car which was parked outside their house in the Netherlands area of Dunmurry.

The man then drove off, along with an accomplice.

The couple were not injured in the incident.

Police said they would like to talk to two men who tried to stop the car a short distance away.

One man has been arrested.

It was the second break-in in the Dunmurry area in the past week.

Local SDLP councillor Patricia Lewsley condemned the robbery.

"The fact that these perpetrators have no fear, and they're actually entering people's homes, going through their homes and up into their bedrooms to get keys for cars is a very worrying development," she said.
