Crew rescued after boat sinks

Four fishermen have been rescued after their boat sank off Shetland.

They were rescued from a life raft by a trawler which was in the area.

The crew of the Lerwick registered trawler "Neptune" contacted Shetland coastguard in the early hours of Saturday morning to say the boat was taking in water.

It was about 30 miles off Muckle Flugga - Britain's most northerly lighthouse.

They reported that their engine room and fish hold was flooded and they were preparing to take to their life raft.

Shetland Coastguard was able to alert other fishing vessels in the area and a trawler from the Faroe Islands was first to reach the raft and rescue the men.

Dave Phillips, Shetland coastguard watch manager, said all crew were reported safely aboard the trawler with no injuries.
