Man stabbed in city

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in Exeter.

The incident took place while the man was walking along Sidney Road at about 1630 BST on Friday.

At the Alphington Road junction, he entered into a brief conversation with another man but was then stabbed in the chest.

The offender is thought to have headed off in the Marsh Barton direction of the city after the incident.

The stabbed man was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for treatment.

Police said the victim's injuries are not life-threatening.
