Tribute to 'ideal husband'

The British-based wife of an American who was killed in the Saudi Arabia suicide attacks described him as the "ideal husband and father".

Samantha Bair, whose husband Todd was an American Army veteran, said she and their two sons, aged 11 and eight, were distraught at the 37-year-old's death.

In a statement issued by West Mercia Police, Mrs Bair, from Wychbold, near Droitwich, Worcestershire, said: "We have been totally devastated by the news that Todd has been killed in this senseless atrocity.

"He was both an ideal husband and father and he had served his country as a member of the American armed services for 14 years.

"We would like to be left in peace to come to terms with our tragic loss."

A police spokesman said no further statement would be issued by the family.

Mr Bair died when suspected al-Qaeda terrorists targeted a residential compound in Riyadh on Monday.

It is understood he had been working as a logistical officer for an American corporation in Riyadh since August last year.
