Rape terror for schoolgirl

Police are hunting a rapist who attacked a 15-year-old girl in broad daylight.

The man struck in Great Barr as the girl was walking to the shops, but police said the incident was only recently reported to them.

They have launched an appeal for witnesses to the attack, which happened in an alleyway between Valerie Grove and Valley Road in Hamstead.

The man, who was Asian and in his early 20s, approached the girl from behind and dragged her to some nearby garages, where he raped her.

He was said to have been of medium build, and about 5ft 10in, and was wearing a black hooded-sweatshirt and black trousers.

Police say the girl was on holiday from school at the time of the attack on 25 April at 1015 BST.
