The parents of a teenage girl who died in a car driven by a friend who was just 15, have paid tribute to their "kind and thoughtful" daughter.

Camilla Hamilton, 15, of Felsted, near Chelmsford, Essex, died late on Saturday when the Mercedes 4x4 vehicle she was travelling in crashed into a tree.

The girl who was driving was arrested at the scene in Pebmarsh, Essex, and later released pending further inquiries.

On Tuesday, Camilla's family said she had just completed year 10 at Felsted School and would be greatly missed.

In a statement released through police, they said the youngster had enjoyed English and modern languages.

She had also played hockey for Essex at under-15 level.

The statement added that Camilla was also a talented netball player and had been involved in school drama productions.

"She was respected, kind and thoughtful," said her family.

"She had a very close and loving family which had always supported her in everything she had done."

Camilla was described as having had "a great enthusiasm for life".
