Police at the scene of the shooting in St Pauls

The jury in the trial of a man accused of the attempted murder of a policeman has been sent home for the weekend.
Christopher Thompson is also charged with conspiracy to supply a class A drug and the possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
The case follows a late-night incident in St Pauls in Bristol last August when Mr Thompson's cousin, 20-year-old Fosta Thompson, was shot dead by police marksmen.
He denies all the charges.
Undercover operation
Christopher Thompson, formerly of Easton, Bristol, was shot in the thigh but managed to escape.
A week later he was arrested on the M4.
Earlier in the trial, a police officer told Bristol Crown Court he was "stopped in his tracks" when a man tried to
shoot him during an undercover operation.
Pc John Condon told the court he had been in the St Pauls area of the city when he
tried to stop and search two men after one, Fosta Thompson, had offered to sell him drugs.
They began to run away but one of the men turned and fired a gun at him, missing him "by a metre".
