Most MPs back hunting ban
Most of the region's MPs have voted to ban hunting with hounds.

After a five hour debate in the Commons, MPs backed a backbench amendment to the controversial Hunting Bill by 362 to 154.

But a number of local MPs voted against an outright ban on fox hunting:

David Blunkett (Labour, Sheffield Brightside)
Austin Mitchell (Labour, Great Grimsby)
David Curry (Conservative, Skipton and Ripon)
John Greenway (Conservative, Ryedale)
William Hague (Conservative, Richmond)
Greg Knight (Conservative, Yorkshire East)
Anne McIntosh (Conservative,Vale of York)

The vote sets up another battle with the House of Lords, which has opposed a hunting ban since Labour began its attempts to limit the blood sport in 1997.
