Tufnell for BBC sports quiz
Phil Tufnell
Tufnell is considering a string of media offers
Reality adventure show winner Phil Tufnell is to become a team captain on BBC One sports quiz They Think It's All Over.

Tufnell, who won ITV1's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here contest on Monday, joins the programme in the autumn.

He steps in after the departure of team captains Gary Lineker and David Gower.

Tufnell, a former Middlesex and England cricketer, is negotiating a number of media offers after being crowned king of the jungle in this week's reality show final.

He appears as a guest on Jonathan Ross's Friday night chat show on BBC One next week.

They Think It's All Over has been on air since the mid-1990s

Ross is a regular panellist on They Think It's All Over, hosted by Nick Hancock, which is in its eighth year.

Ross and Hancock will stay with the programme, along with fellow regular Rory McGrath.

Lineker, a former England football captain, is thought to be looking for other TV projects alongside his role hosting the BBC's Match of the Day.

Former England cricket captain Gower is currently working as a commentator on Sky Sports.

Details of the other team captain have yet to be announced, although speculation has pointed to snooker player Steve Davis and former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies.
