A 73-year-old former insurance broker has been remanded in custody by Swansea magistrates charged with the murder of his wife.

Graham Glover is charged with murdering Marjorie Glover, who was 70 and a former hairdresser.

Police found the body of Mrs Glover in the kitchen of the couple's home in the Sketty area of the city after they were alerted to an incident on Monday.

A post mortem examination indicated that she died from "pressure to the neck".

Mr Glover was initially taken to Singleton Hospital in Swansea but was later interviewed by detectives and charged with his wife's murder.

He was remanded in custody by magistrates on Friday and will appear at Swansea Crown Court at a later date.

The couple's two daughters were in the public gallery for the hearing.
