Decision 'will not affect runway'
Guernsey airport
Adequate: Guernsey airport's runway
The States of Guernsey's purchase of Aurigny will not impact upon the length of the island's runway, according to one Deputy.

Board of Administration President, Deputy Roger Berry said the length of the existing airport runway is more than adequate for all the airlines serving the island.

British Airways is flying similar equipment on the Guernsey to Gatwick route to that which will be operated by the States-owned airline.

So according to Deputy Berry there should be no change in requirement.

A report into the airport by British Aerospace consultants earlier this year concluded that the runway needs to be extended at a cost of £20m to sustain the needs of the island over the next 25 years.
