A man was in hospital on Friday after being shot in broad daylight in Liverpool.
The 22-year-old, from Belle Vale, was said to be in a stable condition after the incident in Woolton on Thursday.
He was shot in the upper body, on Hunts Cross Avenue, shortly after being approached by a gang of masked men at about 1630 BST.
Police later arrested a 27-year-old man from Speke and a 26-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
Detectives do not believe it was a random shooting, although no motive has been established.
They were hunting the other gang members on Friday while house-to-house inquiries and a forensic search were also being carried out.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
