priory park
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward
Footage from CCTV cameras is being examined by police in the hope of identifying a group of youths who raped a teenage girl.

The 17-year-old was out in Bedford on Wednesday night with two girlfriends when the attack took place.

The three girls were approached by five men at an off-licence in North Parade at 2030 BST.

The men were driving a silver 4x4-type of vehicle and told the girls they were from Cambridgeshire.

After visiting a cashpoint at a supermarket in Cardington Road, all eight went to Priory Marina.

Between 2230 BST and 2300BST one girl left the group and was then raped by each man in turn.

Girl 'devastated'

An incident room has been set up at Greyfriars Police Station and 13 detectives are working on the case.

A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said the girl has been devastated by the attack.

The five men are described as white and between 17 and 19 years old.

Detectives are appealing for help from witnesses who may have seen the vehicle with eight people in it on Wednesday evening.
