Three homes hit by lightning
A television exploded and a tree was sent toppling towards a house after three homes in one street were hit by lightning.

The strikes happened within quick succession in the town of Lake on the Isle of Wight.

The first house at Fairfield Gardens was hit at about 2300 BST on Sunday.

Shortly afterwards, a tree in a nearby garden was struck and fell towards the house. Then, electric cabling at a third house was set alight.

The conservatory at the first house was damaged and the television exploded.

The other houses suffered only minor damage and no-one was hurt.
