Northants Police HQ
Police were called to the scene of the M1 accident
An investigation has started into an accident which closed part of the M1 in Northamptonshire on Thursday morning.

A mini-bus carrying pupils from a school in Buckinghamshire crashed into the central reservation near Junction 16 at about 0815 BST.

The bus had been carrying pupils from Amersham and Wycombe College to Alton Towers.

Four ambulances, police cars and a fire engine were called to the scene.

The driver and a 17-year-old pupil have been treated in hospital, while 20 others escaped injury.

The north bound carriageway of the motorway was shut for just over three hours.

It is now open again.
