Plan to help vulnerable OAPs
Vulnerable pensioner
The council is looking at future care provision for pensioners

The county council's support for vulnerable people in Cumbria is being discussed on Monday.

It is part of the process of the council developing its strategy for 2004/05.

The council is to agree its priorities and work out how it can achieve them.

The corporate strategy has seven key themes, which cover issues like improving quality of life and safety, regenerating the economy, improving council services and increasing educational standards.

At a meeting at Newton Rigg in Penrith on Monday they will be considering how the strategy can be applied to the county's older and vulnerable people.

The Individual Support Consultative Forum will talk about a "commissioning strategy" for older people.

After all the forums have debated their own issues their views will help the county council work out what needs to be done in the years to come.
