Pupils injured in bus crash

The pupils were on their way to school when the accident happened

More than a dozen school children were taken to hospital in a fleet of ambulances after a crash between their bus and car on Thursday.

Eleven ambulances were called in when the double-decker crashed as it was taking 60 children to Dukeries secondary school in Ollerton in Nottinghamshire.

Injured students were given first aid and oxygen at the scene.

Twelve pupils were taken to King's Mill Hospital and four to Bassetlaw Hospital with minor whiplash and bruising.

The driver of the car was taken to King's Mill Hospital with neck injuries.

Ambulance service spokesman Phil Morris said none of the injuries was life-threatening.

The accident happened on Briar Lane in New Ollerton just after 0830 BST.
