Frigate returns after exercise
Type-23 frigate
HMS Somerset has been taking part in an international exercise
A Royal Navy frigate returns to her Devon base on Monday.

HMS Somerset, which is based in Plymouth's Devonport base, is coming home after a seven-week deployment in the Baltic.

The Type-23 frigate has been taking part in a training exercise involving 19 other nations.

The exercise, called Baltops 2003, involved maritime, air and land forces in the Baltic.

HMS Somerset's crew were part of many different areas of operations, including anti-submarine and electronic warfare, supplying other ships, and stopping suspect vessels.

During their time away, the ship's crew visited five countries in the Balkans.

They also delivered much-needed toys and clothes to orphanages in several areas, including Riga in Latvia.
