Arrests after promotion match
Action from the match
Lincoln won the match and the tie

Ten people were arrested at the crucial football between Scunthorpe United and Lincoln City on Wednesday.

The arrests before, during and after the game at Scunthorpe's Glanford Park ground were all for public order offences.

It is not known how many of those arrested are Scunthorpe fans and how many support Lincoln.

Humberside Police say the worst incidents took place outside the ground following the match.

Protective shields

At one stage missiles including bricks were thrown at police officers in the Doncaster Road and Hilton Avenue areas.

Officers had to use protective shields as well as special helmets and vests.

A police spokeswoman said most of the 8,295 fans at the second leg of the third division play-off semi-final behaved impeccably.

"However, the behaviour of a small minority of supporters - from both Scunthorpe and Lincoln - was disgraceful and did mar the occasion," she added.

Scunthorpe lost the match 0-1 to give Lincoln a 6-3 win on aggregate.
