Road accident victim named

Police have named a man who died after being hit by two vehicles on a Cumbrian road.

The accident happened on the A686 Penrith to Alston Road, in Cumbria, at 0120 BST on Monday.

The vehicles involved were a car and a van.

The man has been named as Peter Buchanan, 47, from Vicarage Terrace, in Nenthead, Cumbria.

The road was closed at Edenhall for several hours while investigations were carried out.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.
