Pensioners robbed at homes

Two elderly pensioners have been robbed at their homes in County Down.

A gang of three men forced their way into the home of a 72-year-old woman at Lisnaree Road in Banbridge just after midnight on Monday.

The men held her down on the bed and put a blanket over her head while they ransacked the room.

They escaped with a sum of money.

A short time earlier, the three men broke into the home of a 78-year-old man at Halfway Road in the town.

They demanded money and ransacked the house before stealing a sum of cash.

Police have asked anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area on Sunday night to contact detectives at Banbridge.
