A murder investigation is under way after a Black Country pensioner was killed with a sword in India, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

Santokh Singh Duhra, 71, from Wolverhampton, was on holiday in his native village in Punjab last week when he was attacked with the ceremonial weapon.

Police there said the father-of-five was stabbed on Monday after he answered his front door.

Officers believe Mr Duhra was attacked because he had formed a relationship with Rajvinder Oraf Bindu, 25, who worked as his housemaid.

Police are trying to trace her younger brother, 22-year-old Harminder Oraf, in connection with the 71 year old's death.

Mr Duhra, a retired factory worker living in Wolverhampton, had been due to return from his holiday last week.
