Missing baby's mother charged

Police in Lowestoft have charged a woman in connection with the death of a baby although no body has been recovered.

Suffolk Police said 22-year-old Nina Smart had been charged with concealing the birth of a child and preventing the lawful and decent burial of a child.

She is to appear before magistrates in Lowestoft on Thursday.

Police described the investigation in the town as "extremely sensitive".

Officers are continuing to search for the body of the baby.
