Man 'threatened to blow up flat'
A man has been arrested after threatening to blow up his flat in Greater Manchester.

The 35-year-old was detained in Altrincham after police were called to his home at about 2315 BST on Tuesday.

Residents had reported he was smashing windows in his flat in Lloyd Gardens.

Police said he also threw a television and refrigerator out of the window while people stood below.

Transco were called to cut the gas supply to the flat, after the man threatened to blow it up.

Flames in window

A police negotiator was called to the scene and attempted to get him to leave the flat.

But officers raided the property when they saw flames coming from the bedroom window.

The man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and affray.

He was due to be questioned later on Wednesday.
