Man dies in head-on crash

A man has been killed in a head-on crash between a car and a van in Gloucestershire.

The man, who has not been named by police, died at the scene on the A419 at Chalford, near Stroud.

The crash, on Cowcombe Hill, happened at about 0630 BST on Wednesday.

Fire crews were called in to cut the driver of the car free, but he died of his injuries before they could get him out.

The driver of the van suffered slight injuries.

Police said the road would be closed for at least three hours while officers investigate.
