Child abuse accused extradited
St Machar Academy
Mr Firth was an assistant head at an Aberdeen school
A teacher facing a string of child sex abuse charges is now in police custody in Scotland after being extradited from Spain.

Paul Firth, of Cushnie, Aberdeenshire, was arrested by Interpol in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in Morocco last year.

The 51-year-old has been the subject of a number of appeals on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.

After spending 11 months in jail in Madrid, Mr Firth, a former assistant head teacher at Aberdeen's St Machar Academy, lost his fight against extradition last week.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said: "We can confirm that on Monday June 23, officers flew to Spain and escorted Paul Firth back to this country, arriving late this evening at Aberdeen.

"He has been conveyed to Grampian Police Headquarters and will be taken to Craiginches Prison prior to his further appearance in court."
