A man suffered severe burns in a fire at a flat in Plymouth.
Devon Fire and Rescue Service were called to the property in Kinnaird Crescent in Southway at about 0030 BST on Wednesday.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
It is thought it was caused by a leaky gas cylinder, which may have been set alight by a cigarette or a boiler starting up.
The casualty was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, but was later transferred to the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
Assistant divisional fire officer Andy Denton said: "At some point during the development of the fire, a domestic liquid petroleum gas cylinder exploded.
"That caused the heat in the premises to rise rapidly and that may explain some of the burns the casualty received."
