Arrest after derby game violence
Police hunting fans who clashed after a North East football derby, have arrested a man.

Northumbria Police release photographs of men they believed were involved in violence who were involved in violent scenes after the Sunderland AFC and Newcastle United match in April.

A police spokesman said a 33-year-old man from Sunderland had been charged with affray, and will appear before magistrates in the city on Friday.

Detectives say they have had a good response since releasing the CCTV images on Monday.

They identified a group of people they say were involved the isolated incident in Millennium Way, in Sunderland after the match.

Police were trying to trace five people and have issued pictures of the men.

Extensive enquiries have so far traced 12 people who have been arrested and charged with disorder offences after the match on 26 April.

Police made 49 arrests on the day, the majority of which where were inside or in the immediate vicinity of the ground and were mainly for minor public order offences and drunkenness.
