Man dies in crash

A 46-year-old driver has been killed in a road accident in Kent.

Police are appealing for information on the incident in Hawkhurst at 2200 BST on Saturday.

Only one vehicle, a blue TVR sports car, is believed to have been involved.

The accident happened at the junction of the A268 Hawkhurst High Street and Delmonden Road.

The car appeared to have crashed into an electricity sub-station.

Crash investigators

Police said the man, whose name has not yet been released, was local.

A police spokesman said: "We are not sure why the car crashed into the sub-station but it did collide with it at some point."

The road was closed for a short time while crash investigators examined the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is urged to call Kent Police.
