Police are appealing for witnesses after the robbery at the house

Police have named a man who was tied up and robbed of £100,000 worth of valuables at his home near Usk.

Jason Gundy, 33, who lives with his partner Christopher Hill, lay sleeping in bed when the intruders broke into the house.

A substantial amount of jewellery was taken, including a three stone diamond ring in a hand made platinum mount worth £50,000.

Detectives are searching for four men in connection with the robbery, which happened on Monday morning.

The break in was at a property known locally as "the dalmatian house" because of its distinctive black and white spotted paintwork.

A man entered Mr Gundy's bedroom, forced him to the floor, covered his head, tied him up, and threatened him with a knife until he told them where the safe was.

He is said to be white, over 16 years of age with suntanned skin.

He was of thin build and was wearing a baseball cap which was possibly beige.

Mr Gundy managed to free himself after they had gone and fled to a friend's house before returning later.

The four robbers escaped with 51 pieces of jewellery, which included a number of rings and chains.

A number of people have come forward in relation to the incident but police are appealing for witnesses.

Superintendent Jon Burley of Gwent Police said: "This was a particularly distressing attack for the occupier.

"We are appealing for information relating to this incident, particularly if anyone has been seen acting suspiciously in the area this morning or in the recent past.

"Similarly, any suspicious vehicles that have been sighted in the area".
