Ticket cordons around Goodison
Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson's side will receive the Premiership trophy

Football fans packed in to Everton's Goodison Park ground on Sunday to watch a match with extra importance for both sides.

Everton were battling for the right to play at European level for the first time in eight years.

For Manchester United, fans were waiting for the squad to be presented with the Premiership trophy after they were crowned champions last week.

Merseyside Police set up ticket check cordons around the stadium, in the bid to make the game trouble-free.

Match commander Chief Superintendent Dave Lewis said the policing of the game would be "friendly and fair, but firm".

He warned United fans that if they were not able to get in to the game, they would not then be allowed in to the stadium to watch the team receive the Premiership trophy.
