Toolkits encourage family learning
Books
The kits will include videos and story sacks as well as books

Special toolkits are being used in Sheffield libraries to encourage family learning.

As part of Adult Learners' Week (10-17 May) the big yellow boxes contain materials to make story times fun, such as videos, story sacks and books.

At present they are reference collections but will soon be available to tutors, teachers, learning support workers and families.

Family Learning in the city has proved to be an effective way to encourage adults back into learning.

Parents and carers can upgrade their skills while learning how best to support their children.

Councillor Angela Smith said: "The Adult Learners' Week helps to raise awareness of the support available to learners throughout the city.

"The special packs now available in libraries are aimed at helping all ages to enjoy learning together in a supportive, family environment."
