Credit card fraud alert

Police are highlighting the danger of throwing away bank statements and credit card receipts.

The warning comes following a sharp rise in fraud in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

It is feared criminal gangs are going through dustbins to get hold of discarded credit card slips and bank details.

Police said that the information is being used to fraudulently obtain goods and services.

People are now being urged to burn or shred old statements and credit card receipts.

Another suggestion is to make sure they have been torn into small pieces before they are thrown away.
