Police 'missed body in flat'
Keely Donovan

Police looking for a missing City worker have said they searched a flat a day before they eventually found a body there.

On Sunday evening officers discovered the body of Keely Donovan, 22, at her friend Kim Bruno Rothe's flat in Fillebrook Road, Leyton, east London.

The body of Mr Rothe, 24, was found on rail tracks at nearby Ilford Station.

Scotland Yard has confirmed it had searched the address 24 hours earlier.

But at the time it was a missing person's inquiry and therefore officers "did not undertake an exhaustive search".

Miss Donovan disappeared on Friday night after telling colleagues she was meeting an old friend for a drink after work.

Her parents received a text message from her phone saying she would be returning soon, but she never turned up at their home in Chingford in north-east London.

Her death is being treated as murder.

A post-mortem examination showed she had died from an "obstruction to the upper airway".
