Courthouse fugitives captured

Two men who escaped from a County Down courthouse earlier this week have been re-arrested in Belfast.

David Albert Taggart, 22, who is waiting to be sentenced for murder, was found at a house in the Ormeau Road area of south Belfast on Saturday.

A few hours later, Ian Oliver Carlin, who is facing robbery, assault and unlawful imprisonment charges was arrested at Colinglen Road in west Belfast.

A woman was also arrested at the scene.

The two men escaped custody on Thursday when they overpowered a police officer in Downpatrick Crown Court.

It is understood the police officer who was injured in the breakout suffered a suspected fractured skull.
