Youths' views to be heard
Young people
It is hoped the forum will be up and running by October

Guernsey's young people will soon have a mouthpiece to put their views to the Bailiwick's decision makers.

A youth forum is being set up to allow them to discuss and formulate their views and concerns on the future.

The idea behind the Guernsey Youth Forum has come from local educationalists and the Guernsey Youth Service.

They feel that many young people do not get the chance to put forward their ideas and opinions on decisions that could effect their future.

Keen interest

One of the organisers behind the scheme, grammar school teacher Eric Grimsley, said that many young people take a keen interest in local affairs, but find that their individual views are not listened to.

But the youth forum will give them the chance to discuss things and put forward a joint view that will be listened to.

It is hoped that the forum will be active by October this year.
