House targeted in gun attack
New Barnsley, west Belfast
A children's bedroom window was damaged in the attack

Police are investigating an incident in west Belfast in which a house came under gun attack.

A shot was fired at the house at New Barnsley Park at about 2215 BST on Friday.

A man, his wife and two young girls aged six and nine were at home watching television when the house was attacked.

No-one was injured in the attack, but the children's bedroom window was damaged, when the shot smashed through one pane of double glazing.

The mother said the girls normally would have been in the room at the time and she is thankful and relieved they were with her downstairs.

Police are examining the scene and have appealed for anyone with information about the attack to contact them.

At this stage it is not known why the family was attacked.
