Worker hurt in scaffold fall
A construction worker has suffered back and leg injuries after falling while working on scaffolding.

Emergency services were called to the Amec yard on Hadrian Road, in Wallsend, at about 2300 BST on Monday.

A man, who had been working on an oil platform, was injured when he fell half-a-metre from one scaffolding platform to another, 30 metres up.

Firefighters from Wallsend and Pilgrim Street stations put him on a spinal stretcher and used a crane with a cage to lower him to the ground.

He was then taken to Rake Lane Hospital, on North Tyneside, for treatment to back and leg injuries.
