Engine firm warned over fumes

Rolls-Royce makes jet engines
Rolls-Royce has been warned it must take action following complaints about fumes from one of its Derbyshire factories.

Ross Catherall Limited, in Ripley, makes ceramic parts for Rolls-Royce jet engines and admits it is experiencing "teething problems".

Amber Valley Borough Council is meeting with the firm on Wednesday to discuss the matter.

The council warns it will take action if Rolls-Royce does not rectify the problem.

Wendy Langton, who lives next door to the factory, said the smell was making her ill, causing "headaches and constant sickness".

She said; "When it starts it is a really solid wax smell for over two hours... I understand the process goes on for a 36-hour cycle."
