Firefighters found a woman's body when they were called to a garage fire.
West Yorkshire Fire Service arrived at the property in Ledger Lane, Wakefield, at 1144 BST on Friday.
They found the body of the woman, thought to be in her 70s.
A post mortem examination has revealed she died from smok inhalation.
West Yorkshire Police say there are no suspicious circumstances.
