Pubs warned on noise
People could have more rights to stop noise in Jersey pubs and clubs.

Deputy Jerry Dorey says neighbours should be given the power to ask for premises to have their licences reviewed if they are causing too much noise.

He wants the procedure, already in force in the UK, introduced in the island.

Mr Dorey said: "Local residents would be able to call for a review of the way that licensed premises are operated.

"That would be new for Jersey, and I think it would be a major improvement in letting ordinary people have a say in what happens in their own lives."

President of Home Affairs, Senator Wendy Kinnard, said people already had the power to raise objections at a parish licensing assembly.
