Lodger ruled out in aid worker search
Kate Osborne
Kate worked as a translator in Bali
Detectives investigating the disappearance of a Cumbrian woman in Bali, say they have ruled out any involvement from her former lodger.

Kate Osborne, 35, from Carlisle, has not been seen since 18 April.

Ms Osborne moved to Bali almost four years ago and taught English, acting as a translator following last October's terrorist nightclub bombing.

Two officers from Cumbria police flew to the island with Ms Osborne's parents Liz and Patrick in an effort to trace her movements.

Last week, detectives revealed they wanted to speak to Kate's former lodger, a French national called Bruno Durrand.

Mr Durrand, who is in his late 30's, worked on ferries travelling to and from the holiday island.

Proved unsuccessful

But a spokesman for Cumbria Police said Mr Durrand had been ruled out of the inquiry into Ms Osborne's disappearance.

However, the hunt is continuing for her long-term boyfriend Jose Henricci.

Police have already said that Ms Osborne had suffered violence at the hand of the 35-year-old Peruvian surfer.

Efforts to trace Mr Henricci in his home country have so far proved unsuccessful.

Police said he had used at least three aliases in the past.

Mr and Mrs Osborne are due to return home later this week.
