Len Tauge was attacked by masked men who burst into his pub

A landlord has died after he was attacked by a gang of robbers who raided his Manchester pub.

Len Tague, 46, had just closed the Park Hotel at Monton Road, Monton, in the early hours of Thursday, when the masked men burst in and attacked him with a wooden stick.

Greater Manchester Police say Mr Tauge suffered internal injuries and died in hospital on Friday morning.

The gang stole the night's takings and escaped in a silver Honda Accord, which had been stolen from the Trinity area of Salford on Wednesday.

Bar search

It was later found abandoned in an alleyway off Gerald Road.

The pub was closed on Thursday to allow officers to search the bar area.

Police are urging anyone who saw the car - registration L299 WLP - on Wednesday night, or who was drinking in the Park Hotel, to contact them.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the robbery and was due to be questioned by officers on Friday.
