A teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of a two-year-old boy.

Lee Camplin, 19, of Queen's Road, Halifax, appeared before Calderdale magistrates' court and was remanded in custody.

Police officers were alerted on 4 May when Kelvin Cochrane, from Halifax, was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital with serious unexplained injuries.

The toddler was later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where he died on 7 May.

Officers arrested Mr Camplin in connection with Kelvin's death on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination revealed Kelvin suffered a number of serious injuries.

Kelvin's mother Stacey Wood, 18, appeared before Halifax magistrates' court on Friday charged with neglect.
