Armagh security alert ends
The car that was hit by the device
The device hit the driver's side window of the car

A security alert in which eleven families were moved from their homes in Armagh city has ended.

Army bomb experts examined a suspicious vehicle in Drumarg Park, and it has been taken away for forensic examination.

The vehicle was found on Friday morning during searches carried out after a bomb attack on a police car earlier in the week.

Two police officers escaped injury when a so-called coffee jar bomb hit their car and failed to explode.

The police described the attack as "reckless and cowardly".

The patrol car had been responding to a call from a member of the public when the device was thrown on Wednesday night. The Army made the bomb safe.

The Continuity IRA said it was behind the attack. The dissident republican group is opposed to the Northern Ireland peace process.
