A dog has been badly injured when it was thrown from a moving car on a motorway in Shropshire.
It happened on the westbound carriageway of the M54 at Shifnal at about 0825 BST on Monday.
The incident was reported by a woman who had been driving behind the car when it happened.
Pc Mark Linnemann - from the West Mercia traffic centre at
Wellington police station - said the woman was very shocked by what she saw.
"The woman was driving behind the car and to her horror she saw the door of the car in front of her open and the dog was thrown onto the carriageway.
"She was so shocked she was unable to describe the car in any detail.
"Unfortunately it doesn't look good for the dog, we've recently had a call from the vet saying it doesn't look good at all."
