More patrols after armed robberies
Uniformed police patrols are to be stepped up in Wellingborough after three robberies in the town at the weekend.

All three incidents took place in the Croyland Gardens area early on Saturday and Sunday morning.

In the first robbery, a gun was placed against a 45-year-old man's head and he was forced to hand over cash.

During the second robbery in the early hours of Saturday morning, three men who were sitting on a bench were threatened with a gun and forced to hand over cash, wallets and mobile phones.

On Sunday at 0130 BST a woman was grabbed around the mouth and threatened with a gun.

A second man then took her handbag containing a purse and phone.

Detectives in Northamptonshire say the man with the gun has been described as black and speaking with a West Indian accent.
