Travellers face tram disruption
Metrolink tram
Trams on the Altrincham and Eccles lines are unaffected

Tram passengers in Greater Manchester are being warned to expect severe disruption to the system.

Services cannot operate on the Bury line through Victoria station in Manchester city centre.

Trams are travelling as far as Crumpsall, with a replacement bus service completing the journey.

A decision was made to suspend services through the station after a safety inspection on the glass domed roof on Thursday night.

The bus service will call at all stations to Piccadilly Gardens, but Metrolink bosses are advising travellers to find an alternative way into the city centre if they can.

Trams on the Altrincham and Eccles line and trains into Victoria station are not affected.

Metrolink say they do not yet know how long the closure will be in place.
