Two die in fatal road crash
A 10-year-old girl and a man aged 22 have been killed in a road crash after their car collided with a van.

Strathclyde Police said the pair were travelling in a Nissan car when the collision happened in Cloch Road near Gourock, Inverclyde, at 1900 BST on Sunday.

The girl's mother, 33, who was driving the Nissan, was seriously hurt in the crash along with a 22-year-old woman.

Fire crews from Greenock and a Road Rescue Unit from Renfrew responded to the accident, alongside a specialist rescue team from Easterhouse Fire Station.

The rescue operation involved the use of hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment.

Four people injured in the crash were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
